Hi, I'm Janine Rietz and I’m here to change how websites are designed, built and delivered.
I started “Otaku” because I was tired of this underhanded model in which web designers try to make their clients dependent on them forever - instead of teaching them the right tools to manage their own websites and content.
I became obsessed with flipping this model, creating transparency and delivering a tool to my clients that is in their control. Always. In the past years I have witnessed numerous clients increase their sales and reconnect with their customers, simply because they now have a gorgeous and well organized website that perfectly reflects them and their true business values.
I was born and raised in Berlin, Germany and somehow I've always had a thing for technology. Numbers fascinate me and I think that makes me a little nerdy - which I believe to be a compliment. I've worked in many different jobs - Executive Assistant to CEO's, Nanny, Marketing Director, Project Management - and I always strive to learn new skills. Website design allows me to combine all my nerdy (or maybe just typically German) qualities in one field.
In 2015 I moved to the United States. I now live in beautiful St. Petersburg in Florida and from here I design for and teach clients from all over the world. My job has become a great passion and I am incredibly grateful to be able to work with like-minded, passionate entrepreneurs.
Another passion project of mine is my side job as an educator, where I’m promoting healthful eating, sustainability and compassion. Volunteering for 4ocean and Big Brothers Big Sisters has also become a big part of my life and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the wonderful experiences, which all help me grow and become a better version of myself every day.
